- 2 X 50ml of a fine dry London gin
- A glug of dry vermouth, to taste
- Garnish with a lemon peel twist
- Preferred glass would be a a martini glass
The ratio of gin to vermouth is a personal taste. I tend to prefer my martinis more "wet" than is custom, so I like to add more vermouth than those who focus on getting as little vermouth as possible in pursuit of "dryness". The old adage of simply letting some sunlight pass through the sealed bottle of vermouth into the glass doesn't pass with me my friends. And to those who'd prefer to spritz it into the glass, pah!
I like a glug of vermouth.
Stir the gin and vermouth with ice in a cocktail mixing jug. Strain into a chilled Martini glass.
Garnish with a lemon peel garnish, flexing it above the top of the drink so that the lemon oils coat the surface.
Drink it fast while it's still frosty, and follow it up with a sparkling water chaser.
Fuck it, make it a beer chaser.
